Inle | Pindaya | Bagan | Monywa

To Inle:

The Inle Lake is a popular tourist destination among foreign and local travelers alike. Famous for its scenic beauty and its unique leg rowing technique of the Inthas, the native lake dwellers, Inle Lake is “must see” on any tourist itinerary in Myanmar.

By Car: Traveling by car from Mandalay to the uphill and winding road over the Shan plateau will take a few hours, but the panorama while ascending the hilly terrain is worth the ride.

By Plane: A flight from Mandalay to Heho, which is the nearest airport to the lake, takes only 20 minutes.

By Train: Regular train service is available via Thazi Junction to Heho and Shwenyaung, which is the nearest station to the lake.

To Pindaya:

This town is perched on the banks of the Botoloke Lake. Pindaya is famous for its caves where hundreds of thousands of Buddha images in various sizes and shapes have been installed since the early 11th century. Pindaya is an ideal place for meditation since the older days.

By Car: Traveling by car from Mandalay to the uphill and winding road over the Shan plateau will take a few hours, but the vista while ascending the hilly terrain is worth the ride.

By Plane: The flight from Mandalay to Heho, which is the nearest airport takes only 20 minutes, than 1 hour drive will be necessary.

To Bagan:

Bagan is considered as one of the most important archeological sites in Asia. Bagan is famous for its thousands of pagodas and stupas stretching as far as the eyes can see. A “must see” for any traveler to Myanmar, this world famous Buddhist site ranks alongside the Angkor Wat in Cambodia and the Borabudur in Indonesia as the cultural treasures of South East Asia.

By Plane: The flight from Mandalay to Bagan Airport is approximately 20 minutes.

               The flight from Heho to Bagan Airport is approximately 25 minutes.

By Bus: From Mandalay to Bagan traveling time is approximately 9 hours.

By Boat Ferry: From Mandalay to Bagan approximately 12 hours.

To Monywa:

About 136 km to the west of Mandalay is Monywa the commercial center of the northwest. The town of Monywa is located on the eastern bank of the Chindwin River. Popular destinations to visit are the Bodhi-Ta-Taung Pagoda, Thanbokde Pagoda, Po-Win Taung Hills and Kyaukka Village.

By Bus: Buses leave regularly from the corner of 83rd Street and 27th Road (near the Clock Tower). Traveling time is approximately 3 hours.

By Train: A train is available from Mandalay, but traveling time will take from 5 or 6 hours.
